On behalf of the Officers and brethren of the Duke of Connaught Lodge,
I would like to extend to you the warmest welcome to our website.

The Duke of Connaught Lodge is entering an exciting and important phase in its long and esteemed history by becoming part of the United Grand Lodge of England’s ‘Universities Scheme’. The scheme has been set up to encourage students studying at university in Newcastle to participate in Craft Freemasonry. More information on the Universities Scheme is available on the page linked above.

The Duke of Connaught Lodge was consecrated in 1918 just two weeks before the end of World War 1; a fact which is still reflected in the history and traditions of the Lodge. The Lodge originally met in the ‘west end’ of Newcastle but through time moved to its current location in Wallsend. This brought with it a rich diversity of members, which remains a characteristic of the Lodge to this day.

Our Lodge takes its name from His Royal Highness the Duke of Connaught who was the Grand Master of United Grand Lodge of England in 1918 and we proudly display his crest on our lodge banner.

I would encourage anyone interested in learning more about freemasonry in Newcastle or the Universities Scheme to browse our site or use the ‘Contact Us’ page linked above.
